had a dream last night that the new tumblr discourse was whether or not people deserved their urls and people were getting callouts and anon hate like "I can't believe you have x in your url when I never see you actually post about them it's pretty messed up that you're taking that url away from other people who actually deserve it :/"

gothmisspiggy

This was genuine discourse in 2012 you guys need to remember your history

people would never do this to me cuz hatena yousei is mega obscure to english speakers  like I think only a few other people (not including my friends who know about her cuz of me) know about her

You know how Art Fight lets you bookmark characters and lets you type in a reason why? I think Tumblr should do that for your blocklist. Sometimes you just forget why you blocked someone. Here's a poorly drawn example.

RIGHT like I have so many people blocked and I have no idea why

My friend who knows nothing about guilty gear really loves Bridget. I think that’s very nice for her, but she keeps calling her Brisket.

I want to correct her, but at the same time she sent me a pretty girl edit of Bridget with hearts and stuff all over it and in big black letters it just says “BRISKET <3” at the bottom. She’s so enthused that it feels like it would be easier to just perpetuate this misunderstanding.

I guess you could say my friend and I are big Brisket fans. Is that bad?

Anon this is absolutely hilarious. I tried to recreate your friend’s edit:

Please let her keep thinking her name is Brisket

Edit: The anon in this post is @nottoxicfr . Please check out their blog and art. Thank you all for supporting this Brisket <3

Edit 2: This is the original Brisket <3. This is the origin post of the entire thing. Aug 9, 2022

One of the most unethical thing about pet foxes breeders that never gets talked about is how fox pups get pulled from their mother very young, typically around a week to 10 days old. This is in order to force the kits into bonding with humans instead of their mother. This practice is common with a lot of exotic animals, and will be extremely distressing to the mother fox. Foxes typically form incredibly close bonds with their young and will become very distressed at losing them.

Fox kits are then typically sold to their owner at just 4 weeks old, again as a way to force them into bonding with humans over other foxes. In many domestic pets this would be considered highly unethical and even illegal in many countries, but somehow is ignored when it comes to fox breeders. With dogs and cats it is essential for them to stay with their mum and siblings until at least the age of 8 weeks, and ideally 12 weeks or more to be healthy and mentally well adjusted. This is no different for foxes. They learn so much from their parents and siblings about how to be a fox. Removing them so young is extremely selfish and can have long-term detrimental impacts and their well-being.

This issue is massive with primate breeding for pets. Monkeys, lemurs, and apes bred for sale to private owners will be removed from their mothers as young as the day they are born. Any animal that has to be taken from its natal family to be a pet is a sign that that animal is not a pet, and keeping it as one is cruel.

This macaque is sucking its thumb. Digit sucking past 1-2 years of age is an abnormal behavior indicative of the trauma that comes with being pulled from the mother. When you see videos of people interviewing pet monkey owners, you’ll see the same behaviors as in caged lab macaques. No matter how pampered they are, that separation scars them for life.

That’s the thing with trying to domesticate wild animals by breeding and rearing--trauma is a necessary part of the process.
